Telenor has to pay this amount to the national exchequer as tax arrears from past years that the company has failed to pay. It has also been learned that Telenor’s appeals have been dismissed by all appellate bodies, as well as the Islamabad High Court, which has ordered the company to pay government dues. FBR Freezes Bank Accounts of Telenor Due to Non-Payment of Income Tax

Moreover, the sources entail that the FBR is considering suspending and liquidating all of Telenor Pakistan’s financial assets, including mutual funds, treasury bills, investment bonds, sukuk, and TDRs, in order to recover the unpaid tax amount.
